Maine Lobster Fishing Featured on MSNBC Today

Yesterday Maine lobster fishing was featured on the Today Show. I thought the video did an excellent job highlighting many of the subjects I describe in my new book, How To Catch A Lobster In Down East Maine.

The video highlights the process of catching lobster and what happens during a day out on a lobster boat.  It also does a wonderful job of speaking about Maine's strong lobster conservation program, where large, little and egg-bearing (pregnant) lobsters are released to the wild to help preserve the lobster stock. Finally, I loved what happened when Sara Baines asked a fishermen one of the key no-go questions in the world of lobster fishing - "How many lobsters do you catch in a day."

In my book, I actually have a chapter titled "Frequently Asked Questions About Lobster Fishing" and, within that chapter, I cover the five questions you should never ask a lobster fisherman.  As I described in my book, a fisherman will always skirt around the subject of how many lobsters he catches in a day!

Enjoy!
