Halloween Lobster Caught Off Massachusetts Coast

A quick, belated Halloween post to give mention to the odd colored lobster caught by a lobster fisherman off the coast of Massachusetts. The female lobster is half orange and half black, with the colors split perfectly down the middle.  According to Metro Desk:

"The “split” coloring occurs once in every 50 to 100 million lobsters, and scientists believe this occurs during a cellular division when the lobster egg is first fertilized, the aquarium said.

Split lobsters also often show sexual characteristics of both genders. But this festive crustacean is a female and has been named 'Pinchy' by Duhaime, in reference to the lobster that appeared in an episode of 'The Simpsons.' "

In other Halloween-related news, I dressed as a lobster (what else could I possibly go as!) this year for Halloween.  For some reason I didn't take a photo of myself.  If I can source a photo from one of my friends which is not too embarrassing I'll update this post with the lobster costume photo.
