This morning's Portland Press Herald includes a beautifully touching profile of 87-year-old lobster fisherman Andy Grove. The video includes some stunning shots of picturesque Stonington Harbor as well as action shots of lobster fishing.
Andy is a classic Downeast Maine lobsterman and the article about his life, which accompanies the video, touches on many of the themes I covered in my book, including the early age most lobstermen take up fishing (Andy got his first lobster license at the age of seven), their lifelong commitment to the industry (even at the age of 87 Andy has no plans of retiring) and their love of lobster boat racing (his boat, Uncle's UFO is a regular on the race circuit and just won Diesel class K at the Stonington lobster boat races).
