Bagaduce Lunch, Brooksville, Maine. If
you’re en route to beautiful Deer Isle, Bagaduce Lunch is a must stop. This unassuming, no-frills take-out
restaurant on a tidal river in Brooksville is the recipient of a James Beard
“American Classic” award. The menu, which serves up simple fried seafood fare,
lobster rolls and homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie, hasn’t changed since 1946. Their
clams and crabmeat come from Deer Isle, their lobster and haddock come from
Belfast and their scallops come the Calais area. All is fresh and delicious. They are especially famous for their fried
haddock burger. Lobster rolls are served
in a toasted split-top bun. Sixteen picnic tables are scattered around the back
side of Bagaduce, so customers can view the reversing tides under the bridge
and walk out on the old pier.
