Best Lobster Shacks & Rolls in Maine: 15. Thurston's Lobster Pound
Thurston's Lobster Pound, Bernard, Maine. If you’re headed to Acadia, Thurston’s is a good option for seafood served “in the rough.” Fishing boats bring in fresh lobster, which is cooked at Thurston's door. Dine on the dock, under the shelter of the bright yellow awning, with views of the bay. Diners can tuck into clams and mussels by the pound, crab cakes and chowders, along with Shore Dinners, baked lobsters, lobster rolls and blueberry pies. Thurston’s lobster rolls are reportedly a bit on the ‘skimpy’ side. They do come lightly dressed in mayo on a toasted split-top bun. They also serve wine and beer.
