The price of lobster rolls in Maine

I've had many people "from away" inquire about the price of lobster rolls in Maine so I thought I'd write a quick post on the subject. While it depends on where and when you get the roll, a Maine lobster roll will generally cost anywhere from $10.00 to $20.00.

In southern Maine, lobster rolls tend to be a bit more expensive. For instance, Red's Eats has been selling lobster rolls this summer for $17.00. Many visitors think Red's rolls are well worth the price and the wait (some people stand in line for over an hour to experience Red's lobster roll nirvana). Their roll comes with an entire one-pound lobster’s worth of nearly intact meat.

If you're in search of "cheap" lobster rolls (meaning good value, good quality), head to Downeast Maine. Many of the lobster rolls I've seen advertised this summer have been $12.00 or cheaper. For example, the store just outside of Cutler Village is selling a lobster roll, with fries, for the bargain price of $10.00.

The Cheapest Lobster Roll in Maine?

The cheapest lobster roll I've seen this summer was in Winter Harbor Maine, during their annual Lobster Festival. A humble stand at the festival was offering lobster rolls for a mere $6.00. When I went over to investigate at 1pm, they were already sold out of rolls. I wonder if this is the cheapest lobster roll in Maine?
