Best Lobster Shacks & Rolls in Maine: 4. Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier

Chauncey Creek Lobster Shack KitteryPoint Maine

Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier, KitteryPoint, Maine. Located barely an hour north of Boston, Chauncey Creek also offer out door lobster dinner dining, within sight, sound and smell of the sea. Chauncey began as a working lobster pier and in the early 1950's started selling boiled lobsters and lobster rolls to local patrons. With gradual expansion and word of mouth, Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier has become the famed eatery it is today. The pier hosts 42 brightly painted picnic tables, an enclosed area for inclement weather, and a postcard-perfect view across the water to the pines and Pepperrell Cove.  Picnic hampers and ice chests are definitely part of the scene at Chauncey as diners are welcome to bring any food from home that is not offered on their menu, including beer or a bottle of wine. What is offered on the menu are the essentials - boiled lobster, lobster rolls, steamed clams and fish and chips – along with a few more exotic entrees – including oysters on the half shell, cherrystone clams and Chauncery chili.  You can pick out your lobster live from a lobster tank before having it boiled in fresh sea water.  Chauncery lobster rolls (which are not famed) are served on hamburger buns and the lobster roll meat comes mixed with mayo.
